Neotype (Hedge in Jarvis & al. in Taxon 50: 511. 2001): Turkey. Gümüsane, Erzincan to Kelkit, 1 Aug 1957, Davis 31895 (E; iso-BM).

Current name: Stachys macrostachys (Wender.) Briq. ( Lamiaceae).

Note: The epithet “orientalis” is not available in Stachys because the combination is pre-occupied by S. orientalis L. (1753) . The current name is based on Betonica macrostachys Wender. (1826) .
