Lectotype (Grierson in Davis, Fl. Turkey 5: 51. 1975): Herb. Clifford: 414, Buphthalmum 8 (BM-000647179) .

Current name: Asteriscus aquaticus (L.) Less. ( Asteraceae).

Note: Buphthalmum aquaticum was incorrectly given as the generitype by Jarvis & al. (Regnum Veg. 127: 27. 1993) in error for B. salicifolium L., as noted by Greuter (in Fl. Medit. 7: 43. 1997).

Although Davis (Fl. Turkey 10: 238. 1988) did not list this as a name typified in the Flora, Grierson (in Davis, Fl. Turkey 5: 51. 1975) nevertheless specifically indicated the Clifford material as the type.
