Comments. Lindner (1928a: 100) reported this species for Paraguay, followed by James (1953: 319–320), who states that the species is distributed throughout Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, and northern and central Argentina, but in the Neotropical catalog (James 1973a: 26.41) and the World catalog of the family (Woodley 2001: 264), Paraguay was not included as part of the distribution of this species.

Aldrich (1928: 2), in the original description of Odontomyia tremolerana, mentioned two paratypes (one male and one female) from Uruguay, of which the male was sent back to Juan Tremoleras in Montevideo, Uruguay, whose collection was later on acquired by the MLPA (Museu de La Plata), where the male is since then deposited (Museu de La Plata 1936; Lagrange 1993: 68). The depositary institution of the female paratype remains unknown.
