9. Hupodonta corticalis Butler, 1877 (new record for India)

Material examined. India: 1 ♂, Manipur, Ukhrul district, Shirui Hill (Site 1), 25.1264°N 94.4357°E, 1930 m, 23.VII.2019, Genitalia slide no. JSI-GP 337, leg. JS Irungbam & H Huidrom, (in coll. NZC, ZSI, Registration no. 11530/H10) .
Diagnosis. Forewing length 25 mm in males. The two species, Hupodonta corticalis and H. pulcherrima, share a similar appearance but are distinguished by the shorter pectination of the male antennae (H. pulcherrima’s antennae have very long pectination); and forewings with small black spots near the costa (in H. pulcherrima are absent). In H. corticalis, the uncus is pointed, whereas in H. pulcherrima it is blunt), the shape of the vulva is slightly oval, whereas in H. pulcherrima it is short and rectangular, and the shape of the phallus is forked (in H. corticalis) versus pointed (in H. pulcherrima).
Distribution. India: Manipur (In the present study). Elsewhere. Myanmar, China, Taiwan, N Vietnam, N Thailand, Korea, Japan, Far East Russia (Schintlmeister & Pinratana 2007).
