Discussion. Radoszkowski (1874) described funebris from South Africa. The holotype has not been located. Cockerell (1937) clearly stated that M. funebris resembles M. ianthoptera and not M. aculeata, as suggested by Friese (1909). Until the holotype is found the true identity of this species remains in abeyance.
