Type Locality: Australia, New South Wales, N of Hunter River.

Vernacular Names: Slender-tailed Dunnart.

Synonyms: Sminthopsis albipes (Waterhouse 1842); Sminthopsis tatei Troughton 1965 .

Distribution: SW Western Australia, SE South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, E Queensland.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt) as S. m. tatei; otherwise Lower Risk (lc). Common.
