Type Locality: Australia, Western Australia, Kalumburu (14°15'S, 126°40'E).
Vernacular Names: Carpentarian Dunnart.
Distribution: In Australia known only from the type locality; also in Papua New Guinea.
Conservation: IUCN – Vulnerable.
Discussion: Name first mentioned by Kirsch (1977:47), but first made available was by Archer (1979). Not studied by Krajewski et al. (1999, 2000), but Archer (1981) noted that its affinities are probably with S. macroura .
