Plekocheilus (Eurytus) tricolor (Pfeiffer, 1853)

Bulimus semipictus Hidalgo 1869: 188 . Type locality: Ecuador, Prov. Napo, Baeza. Lectotype: MNHN (Breure 1975).

Remarks. Richardson (1995) grouped Simpulopsis fulguratus Miller, 1878 with this species. Although the type locality of fulguratus (“in valli Pilatonensi” = Prov. Pichincha, Pilatón valley) falls within the range of P. tricolor, the dimensions given by Miller (1878: 187) as “Long. 18, diam. 13, apert. 14/ 10 mm ” clearly exclude such a grouping. We consider S. fulguratus Miller, 1878 a junior subjective synonym of Simpulopsis (Eudioptus) citrinovitrea (Moricand, 1836) (new synonymy); this species has been reported from the same area (Breure 1978). The localities listed above span a wide altitudinal range (500–2700 m).
