Neotheronia cristata Krieger, 1905
Neotheronia cristata Krieger 1905: 292 [♀ ♂ (ZMHB); Peru, Colombia].
References. Morley 1914: 55 [remarks; Mexico (Veracruz, Tabasco)]. Townes & Townes 1966: 33 [catalogue; Theronia (Neotheronia); lectotype ♀ (ZMHB) designated, Peru, Pozuzo at 800 m; Mexico]. Ruíz-Cancino et al. 2002: 645 [checklist; Mexico].
Remarks. Neotheronia cristata was described from South America and later recorded from Mexico by Morley (1914). After that this species was not found neither in Mexico nor in Costa Rica, two countries with pimpline faunas studied very well. Thus, the occurrence of this species in Mexico is apparently incorrect.
Distribution. Colombia, Peru.
