Occurrence. Hawaiian Islands region, 237– 740 m.
Feeding observations. One image (Fig. 2 F, data listed below) shows C. pedicellaris humped over small sized branching coralline structures. These are possibly bryozoans, gorgonian or stylasterid corals. As indicated below, the Calliaster pedicellaris indicated in Chave & Malahoff (1998: 45) is most likely not correctly identified but may be Evoplosoma forcipifera or Hippasteria muscipula .
