Type Locality: "Jeldu-Liban-Shoa, 2,740 mtres, 40 km W. Addis Abeba," [Ethiopia].
Vernacular Names: Ethiopian Highland Hare.
Distribution: Central highlands of Ethiopia.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Eulagos (Averianov, 1998) . Formerly included in capensis (Petter, 1963 a), or europaeus (Azzaroli-Puccetti, 1987 a, b); but see Angermann (1983) and Flux and Angermann (1990). Considered by Azzaroli-Puccetti (1987 a, b) to be closely related to europaeus, with a relict distribution dating back to the Pleistocene.
