Lepus oiostolus subsp. oiostolus Hodgson 1840, J. Asiat. Soc. Bengal, 9: 1186.

Type Locality: "...the snowy region of the Hemalaya, and perhaps also Tibet." Restricted by Kao and Feng (1964), to "Southern Tibet " [Xizang, China].

Synonyms: Lepus oiostolus subsp. illuteus Thomas 1914; Lepus oiostolus subsp. oemodias Gray 1847; Lepus oiostolus subsp. qusongensis Cai and Feng 1982 .
