Paraoxypilus verreauxii Saussure, 1870

= Paraoxypilus verrauxii Wood-Mason, 1889 syn. nov.

= Exparoxypilus africanus Beier, 1929 syn. nov.

The holotype of Exparoxypilus africanus, ostensibly collected by Brunner von Wattenwyl in Bagamoyo, Tanzania (Beier 1929), is almost identical to the holotype of P. verreauxii and closely matches additional specimens collected in Australia. Brunner von Wattenwyl collected widely and the specimen is certainly mislabelled. P. verreauxii appears to have a history of mislabelled specimens, as the holotype itself, supposedly from Tasmania, is almost certainly also mislabelled. Tasmania is well-surveyed but has not yielded further specimens; the species is otherwise only known from north Queensland.

P. verrauxii is a misspelling by Wood-Mason (1889).
