Pseudotaphroderes Bolkay, 1911: 263 . Type species: Pseudotaphroderes forficatus Bolkay, 1911, by subsequent designation (Zimmerman 1994: 153).
Stratiopisthius Senna & Calabresi, 1919: 76, n. syn. Type species: Hoplopisthius doriae Senna, 1893, by monotypy.
Diagnosis. Head with a small basal notch, temples lengthened, as long as or longer than eye diameter (except in H. (P.) ocularis where temples are shorter than eye diameter); vertex, frons and metarostrum glabrous in both sexes. Venter of head grooved. Underside of profemora without brush of thick hairs; upper side of metafemora not grooved (very slightly in H. (P.) forcipitiger). Metasternum not carinate laterally (except in H. (P.) forcipitiger). Elytral interstria 2 present from base to apex; interstriae 5 and 7 abruptly interrupted at apex, forming a tooth above the apical declivity; apex of elytra in shape of "forceps", the first interstria not strongly projecting rearward; interstria 9 forming the external apical border of "forceps". Sternites V–VI of abdomen without basal notches; sternite VII with a small basal notch (sometimes hardly distinct), two latero-apical and no apical fovea. Tergite VIII of females slightly denticulate at the apex.
