Polychrus liogaster Boulenger, 1908
Type-locality. Provincia Sara, eastern Bolivia, alt. 750 m; Chancamayo, eastern Peru.

Distribution and habitat. Polychrus liogaster is endemic to western Amazonia, with its eastern distribution restricted to middle Juruá River, upper Purus and Guaporé rivers, and tributaries of the middle Madeira River, occurring in Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia (Fig. 13). In Brazil it is known from the states of Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. Polychrus liogaster is arboreal and diurnal, inhabits primary terra firme and varzea forests, where it is found mainly on tree branches, bushes and vines, up to 2 meters above ground (Duellman, 1987; Duellman & Salas, 1991 —identified as Polychrus marmoratus; Ávila-Pires 1995).
