Diagnosis. This species is similar to S. lividula in the forewing pattern. Scythropiodes elasmatus can be separated in the male genitalia by the transtilla with a pair of subtriangular lateral lobes and the juxta with two horn-shaped lateral lobes posteriorly (Fig. 27). In S. lividula, the transtilla has a pair of slender digitate lateral lobes, and the juxta possesses two rod-shaped lateral lobes posteriorly (Clarke 1955: Pl. 235, Figs 3–3 b).

Female genitalia (Fig. 39). Papillae anales rectangular, setose. Apophyses posteriores about twice length of apophyses anteriores, anterior apophyses curved at 2/3. Antrum weakly sclerotized, subtrapezoidal, with dense granules on inner surface. Ductus bursae membranous, about 1.5 times length of corpus bursae, weakly sclerotized from anterior 1/3 to 5/12. Corpus bursae elliptical; with two subelliptical signa bearing dense denticles.

Distribution. China (Hubei, Sichuan).

Notes. The female of this species is described for the first time.
