SYNONYMS: brunneus, harmandi, melanotus, melli, pullus, rufescens; speciosa Blyth, 1875; spenoca, ursinus .

COMMENTS: Reviewed by Fooden et al. (1985). M. speciosa Blyth, 1875 (not speciosa I. Geoffroy, 1826, which is a synonym of M. fuscata) is a junior synonym; see Fooden (1969, 1976).
