Villa micrargyra (Walker, 1871)

Anthrax micrargyra Walker, 1871: 262 .

Described from Egypt: Cairo. Identified by Bezzi (1925) from Mariout, iv–v; also females by Engel (1937) from Alexandria (Becker); Serapium, 9.iv.1926 (Tewfik). Listed by Steyskal & El Bialy (1967). Regrettably no type material has been located (Evenhuis & Greathead, 1999).

This species can be easily differentiated from all other Villa spp. by its broad shining brownish black frons, which is broader than usual; and like V. stenozoides sp. nov., r­m cross­vein is nearer to base of discal cell opposite origin of dm­cu vein; and not having black scale tufts on tergites 5–6. Genitalia (Fig. 6).
