Diagnosis. According to Alvarado (2018), this species can be distinguished from all other nocturnal Aphanistes Förster, 1869 by the combination of the following characters: 1) ovipositor with a dorsal notch and not pre-apically swollen; 2) body predominantly reddish-brown; 3) hind tarsomeres II–IV whitish cream.
Distribution. Colombia * and Peru.
