Length: 18.0 mm; width: 8.0 mm. Habitus as in Fig. 5.
Diagnosis. Large sized, body moderately elongate-ovate, smooth, polish, and impunctate; yellowish, head and longitudinal median portion of pronotum black, elytral black marking vase-like; ligula 6-setose, clypeus bisetose, middle tibia slightly dilated, and somewhat curved in male; pronotum strongly convex, transverse, PW/PL=1.66, lateral expanded margin not well defined, flat and hardly reflexed, hind angle more or less angular though broad; elytra elongate-ovate, EL/EW=1.60, sides more or less parallel at middle, widest at about middle; strongly and obliquely truncate at apex, inner apical angle acute and denticulate, striae shallow, outer angle broad and rounded, inner angle very sharp and denticulate at tip; fore tarsi stouter than middle and hind ones; tarsal claws moderately pectinate; male genitalia (Figs. 12–13): moderate elongate, slightly dilated in median portion, dorsal opening wide and long; ventral margin strongly sinuate; in dorsal view apical lobe gently contracted towards apex, apical lamella broad, as long as wide, broadly rounded at apex.
Female: Unknown.
Remarks. The species is similar to H. lateralis (Guérin), but is identical by its vase-like elytral black marking, slender male genitalia with a thin apical lamella which is not dilated preapically.
Material. 1 male, the holotype, “ Sumatra, Palembang, J. Bouchard” and “ Hexachaetus maculatus n. sp. det. Tian et Deuve, 2004 ”, in MNHN.
Distribution. Indonesia (Fig. 20 c).
