Type data: Friese (1899) based this description in a composed series of five females belonging to two species collected in Brazil and Colombia. In 2018, Vivallo designated the lectotype fixing Blumenau, southern Brazil as the type locality. Comments: The lectotype and paralectotype housed at HNHM were collected by the German plastic artist and portraitist Gustav Virgil who emigrated from Germany to Blumenau, southern Brazil (Krug 2010). For a complete resume of the taxonomic history of this species see Vivallo (2018).
