Centris versicolor var. rufiventris Friese, 1924: 22 . Junior synonym of C. varia (Moure et al. 2007) .

Type data: Friese (1924) proposed this variety based on a series of females collected in Bolivia, Brazil and Suriname. The specimen from Bolivia was found at ZMB and it already bears a label of lectotype, as well as the following data label: Bolivia Tarata [printed]\ C. versicolor v. rufiventris Fr. ♀ [handwritten] 1909 Friese det. [printed]\ [red label] Type [printed]\ [white label with red lateral margins] LECTOTYPE [printed] Centris versicolor rufiventris Friese, 1924 [handwritten] desig. Melo, 2016 [printed] (ZMB). The current condition and depository of the paralectotypes remain unknown.

Type locality: Bolivia: Cochabamba department: Tarata .

Comment: The lectotype is a female of C. varia with reddish metasoma.
