Type locality: “South America ”. STs M and F should be at NHMW, but probably lost (see comments below).

Distr.: Colombia (Curran, 1947: 89). Refs.: Townsend, 1931b: 166 (type notes); Curran, 1947: 89 (notes, key); Guimarães, 1971a: 71 (cat., as “ pulvurulentus ” in error). Comm.: Schiner (1868: 335) mentioned five male and two female syntypes in the original description. They should be deposited in the Wien Museum (NHMW) as commented by Townsend (1931b: 166), but according to the curator Peter Sehnal (unpublished data), no syntypes were found there.
