Harpyrhynchoides longipilus (Banks, 1905)

Harpirhynchus longipilus Banks, 1905a: 20, fig. 19; Fain 1995: 99 (type lost). Sarcopterus longipilis Banks, 1905b: 135 .

Hosts and distribution. Loxia sp. ( Passeriformes: Fringillidae) from USA (Washington) (Banks 1905a, b). The only species of the genus Loxia occurring in Washington is Loxia curvirostra (Clements et al. 2014) .

Remarks. Fain (1995) considered Harpyrhynchoides longipilus as species incertae sedis in the subfamily Harpirhynchinae. Its original description allows including this species to the genus Harpyrhynchoides; however, is not enough sufficient to differ it from other congeners. This species could be a senior synonym of Harpyrhynchoides brevis (see remarks to this species).
