Family PHOENICOCOCCIDAE Stickney
The family Phoenicococcidae contains only one species, Phoenicococcus marlatti Cockerell. The species was originally included in the Diaspididae, as subfamily Phoenicococcinae, by Stickney (1934) but more recently, various authorities have felt that P. marlatti should be elevated to family rank. It was listed as family Phoenicococcidae by Brown & McKenzie (1962). Phoenicococcus marlatti Cockerell has been recorded from Iran, and is briefly reviewed.
