Type material. Holotype ♂, SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape, Cwebe Nature Reserve, The Haven, 32º14’S, 28º54’E, 30.X.2006, R. Lyle & C. Haddad leg. (NMBA 10457); Paratype ♂, SOUTH AFRICA: Eastern Cape, Mazeppa Bay, 32º26’S, 28º36’E, 26.X.2006, R. Lyle & C. Haddad leg. (NMBA 16840).
Etymology. The species name is a matronym for Robin Lyle, principal collector of the type specimens.
Diagnosis. Males of Cheiramiona robinae sp. nov. are similar to C. kentaniensis Lotz, 2002 in the short palpal tibia and bi-lobed RTA, but are differentiated by the longer, longitudinally orientated TA (oblique in C. kentaniensis), the larger tegulum and the wider RTA with smaller apices (Figs 83–84, see Lotz 2002: figs 98–99).
Description. Male (n = 2): 3.45 (3.1–3.8); CL = 1.60 (1.4–1.8); CW = 1.30 (1.2–1.4); OAL = 0.28 (0.25– 0.30); OAW = 0.78 (0.65–0.90); CLL = 0.05 (0.05–0.05). Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; PMT:RMT = 5:4 (Fig. 82). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.10; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.15; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.40; MOQPW 0.45; CI (CL/CW) 1.29; LL:CL 8.44; STL 1.00; STW 0.95. Leg measurements: I—3.5+0.9+4.0+4.6+2.2 = 15.2; II—1.6+0.6+1.6+1.7+0.5 = 6.0; III—1.1+0.5+0.9+1.1+0.4 = 4.0; IV—1.9+0.6+1.7+1.9+0.5 = 6.6; Palp—0.8+0.3+0.3+0.9 = 2.3. Leg spines: I—0, 0, 0; II—0, 0, 0-0- 1 v; III—0, 0, 1v- 0-3 v1 p1r; IV—0, 0, 1v-1 v1 p1r -3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with dark heart mark and transverse chevron marks posterior to heart mark. Palp (Figs 83–84): cymbium elongate, three times tibia length; tibia with short broad bifid RTA, dorsal apex pointed and ventral apex short; TA longitudinal, slightly sclerotized, with hooked apex; EM short, thick, with narrowed, sharp, apex; CON short, indistinct and not sclerotized, compressed between EM and TA. Female: unknown.
Distribution. Only known from the Pondoland region along the south-eastern coast of South Africa (Fig. 102). Habitat. Collected by beating vegetation in coastal dune forest.
