Cheiramiona tembensis sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype ♂, SOUTH AFRICA: KwaZulu-Natal, Ingwavuma, Tembe Elephant Park, near viewing tower, 27º02’S, 32º25’E, 8.I.2002, C. Haddad leg. (NMBA 12119).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective taken from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Males of Cheiramiona tembensis sp. nov. can be differentiated by the palpal cymbium being slightly longer than the tibia, and by the simple oval shape of the RTA (Figs 92–93).

Description. Male (n = 1): 4.9; CL = 2.2; CW = 1.6; OAL = 0.35; OAW = 1.1; CLL = 0.05. Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; PMT:RMT = 3:4 (Fig. 91). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.20; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.25; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.40; MOQPW 0.45; CI (CL/CW) 1.38; LL:CL 6.05; STL 1.1; STW 1.0. Leg measurements: I—3.3+1.0+3.5+4.0+1.5 = 13.3; II—1.9+0.8+1.6+1.7+0.6 = 6.6; III—1.3+0.6+1.0+1.1+0.4 = 4.4; IV—2.0+0.8+1.8+2.0+0.6 = 7.2; Palp—1.0+0.4+0.5+0.7 = 2.6. Leg spines: I—0, 0, 1v- 0- 1 v; II—0, 0, 1v- 0- 1 v; III—0, 0, 2v-1 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r; IV—0, 0-0-1r, 2v-1 v1 p1r -3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with dark heart mark and two dark longitudinal lines posterior of heart mark, converging above spinnerets. Palp (Figs 92–93): cymbium elongate, slightly longer than tibia length; tibia with broad, oval, spoonshaped RTA with rounded apex; TA slightly sclerotized, with hooked apex; EM short, thick, with narrowed, sharp, apex; CON finger-like, distinct but not sclerotized. Female: unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality (Fig. 102).

Habitat. Collected by beating short shrubs in sand forest.
