Cheiramiona upperbyensis sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype ♀, SOUTH AFRICA: Northern Cape, Kuruman, Upperby, 27º24’S, 23º04’E, 24.I.2004, C. Haddad leg. (NMBA 9634).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective derived from the type locality.

Diagnosis. Cheiramiona upperbyensis sp. nov. is similar to C. boschrandensis sp. nov. in the posterior lip-like extention of epigastric fold and the length and direction of the copulatory tubes, but is differentiated by the shape of the epigynal depression (transverse as opposed to Y-shaped) and the narrower, more strongly curved SPER (Figs 5–6, 95–96).

Description. Female (n = 1): TL = 4.5; CL = 2.0; CW = 1.5; OAL = 0.35; OAW = 0.9; CLL = 0.05. Chelicerae: robust with long fangs; cheliceral fang furrow with five to six teeth, PMT:RMT = 3:2 to 4:2 (Fig. 94). Measurements: AME–AME 0.10; AME–ALE 0.15; AME diameter 0.15; PME–PME 0.15; PME–PLE 0.20; PME diameter 0.15; MOQAW 0.40; MOQPW 0.45; CI (CL/CW) 1.33; LL:CL 4.55; STL 0.9; STW 0.9. Leg measurements: I—2.5+0.9+2.2+2.5+1.0 = 9.1; II—1.6+0.7+1.2+1.5+0.5 = 5.5; III—1.3+0.6+0.9+1.2+0.45 = 4.45; IV—2.0+0.7+1.6+1.8+0.5 = 6.6; Palp—0.8+0.35+0.5+0.7 = 2.35. Leg spines: I—0, 0, 2v- 0- 1 v; II—0, 0, 0-0- 1 v; III—0, 0, 0-1 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r; IV—0, 0-1r-0, 1v-2 v1 p1r-3 v1 p1r. Abdomen: creamy-yellow with faint heart mark. Epigynum (Figs 95–96): wider than long, with small, transverse depression; copulatory openings situated posterior-laterally in depression; epigastric fold forming lip-like extension that is expanded anterior-medially; internally, short copulatory ducts proceed posteriorly then laterally before ending in median part of SPER; fertilization tubes enter SPER posterior-medially. Male: unknown.

Distribution. Only known from the type locality (Fig. 102).

Habitat. Collected by beating bushes.
