Leaf mine.

Upper-layer blotch mine on mature leaf (Fig. 14 D). The mine is orbicular, and the larva often relocates its mine. Frass is minute and often liquid, deposited as dark band in the mine. The mining larva is found from late autumn to early winter. The fully grown larva exits the mined leaf in early winter, falls to the ground, and pupates underground.

Many leaf mines, Shoji Lake, Kawaguchiko, Yamanashi Pref., 24-XI-2018 on Akebia trifoliata (Fig. 14 D) .
