Note. Ortubay et al. (1989) identified this species as Pomphorhynchus sp. from Galaxias platei and Oncorhynchus mykiss . Ortubay et al. (1994) reported adult worms of Pomphorhynchus patagonicus in the intestine of Percichthys colhuapiensis from Aluminé Lake and from Percichthys sp. from Limay River. Largemouth perchs Percichthys colhuapiensis and Percichthys sp. from freshwater environment in Patagonia are considered morphotypes of Percichthys trucha (see Ruzzante et al. 2011). Semenas (1999) reported adult worms in the pericardium of Percichthys trucha, which is an atypical site of infection.

Note. Ortubay et al. (1989) identified the acanthella and cystacanths as Pomphorhynchus sp. from Hyalella patagonica . Semenas et al. (1992) experimentally infected Hyalella patagonica with eggs (containing fully formed acanthors) from the pseudocoel of live gravid females of Pomphorhynchus patagonicus . Gravid females of Pomphorhynchus patagonicus were collected from the intestine of Odontesthes hatcheri from Rosario Lake, Chubut Province by Semenas et al. (1992).
