The holotype ♂ and allotype ♀ were initially registered (1961.12.8) as “ Leptomyrina griselda Gifford ” and appear under this name in Gifford’s draft version of his “Butterflies of Malawi”. Gifford changed the name to handmani before describing them in 1965.
