Paracercopis Schmidt, 1925: 4 .

Type species: Cercopis (Callitettix) seminigra Melichar, 1902, by original designation.

Remarks. This genus was revised by Liang (1993). In this work Esakius chekiangensis Ouchi and P. transversa Lallemand and Synave, were synonymized with P. atricapilla (Distant) . However, from an examination of the type of atricapilla from India (not examined by Liang, 1993) (figure 11), this is different from the types of the other two species from China. Therefore, P. chekiangensis becomes a good species with P. transversa as its new junior synonym syn. nov. (see checklist). In the same work, Liang (1993) followed Lallemand's (1949) unnecessary emendation of darjilingii to darjilingi.
