Thomassinia gebioides de Saint Laurent, 1979

(Figs 1 h, i, 4d)

Thomassinia gebioides de Saint Laurent, 1979: 1396.— Poore 1997: 413, figs 36, 37.— Sakai 2011: 536 –537.

Material examined. Madagascar, Tuléar, NMV J34097 (6 males, 3 females, cl. 1.6–2.3 mm) (topotypic material). Saudi Arabia, Gulf of Aqaba, Joey’s Shipwreck Bay, 28°11.08'N, 34°38.29'E, FMNH UF38171 (ovigerous female).

Remarks. Sakai (2011: 536) described the male pleopod 2 as ‘… bearing elongate fused appendices masculina and interna, represented only by long setae and distal hooklets’. The appendix interna on the male pleopod 2 lacks any long setae that might indicate a fused appendix masculina (Fig. 4 d), same as that in the next species. This the first record of the species outside Madagascar.
