Type locality. Vietnam (Hanoi: Soc Son).

Type material. ZMUM (W.214), Russia.

Examined material. 1 C, 1 A (SORC-V.003.01), and 1 C (CTU-EW.043.01) Trau forest, Xuan Mai, Hoa Binh, 06/1986.

Records from Vietnam. Phu Tho (Xuan Son NP; Phu Tho town); Quang Ninh (Mong Cai); Bac Giang (Tan Yen; Khe Ro NR); Hanoi (Soc Son) (Thai 1984a; Le 1995a; Huynh et al. 2005; Tran & Ngo 2008).

Distribution. Only known from Vietnam.

Vietnamese name. Giun cận exilis .

Remarks. Thai (1983) proposed a new subgenus Terrata of the genus Pheretima, and placed the species under the new subgenus. Blakemore (2007a, 2008b) considered it as " species inquirenda ". Material was re-examined and absence of male copulatory pouches and hence placement of the species in Amynthas is confirmed here.
