Type locality. South Atlantic (St. Helena Isl.).

Type material. Stockkholm Museum, Sweden.

Records from Vietnam. This species was reported from provinces of Lang Son and Cao Bang, both in the northern Vietnam for its use in aquatic agriculture (Blakemore 2015).

Distribution. Cosmopolitan species, original distribution in West Africa, but introduced to other parts in the world (Blakemore 2002, 2012a, 2015)

Remarks. Blakemore (2015) reported its occurrence in Vietnam based on an online report (http:// www.afspan.eu/publications/reports/wp3-regional-international-cooperation-report-2012.pdf, accessed 6 June 2016); no other records have been presented so far.
