Remarks. Thai et al. (1992) noted that the species is fairly similar to Metaphire posthuma (Vaillant, 1868) in having copulatory pouches, prolobous prostomium, and septum 8/9 much thickened. Metaphire phaluongana can be distinguished by having only one pair of spermathecal pores in intersegment 7/8, no genital markings in both spermathecal and male regions. It is usually found in sandy soil. Due to the presence of copulatory pouches, the species is more properly allocated in the genus Metaphire .
