Genus Eosphaeraster gen. nov.
Type species. Eosphaeraster amellagensis sp. nov.
Diagnosis. Sphaerasterida in which the large proximal abactinals (pr, pir) carry two to six ramifying, candelabra-like papular notches on the corners only; more distal abactinals have numerous, evenly spaced vertical papular notches on all margins.
Derivation of name. Greek, Eo-, meaning dawn, as it is the oldest sphaerasterid.
