Saproxylic habits.
Adults occur in rotting wood and under bark, including hickory, cypress ( Cupressus L. ( Cupressaceae)), American sycamore ( Platanus occidentalis L. ( Platanaceae)), pine, and blackjack oak ( Quercus marilandica (Münchh.)) (Ramberg 1979; Mathison 2021).
Conservation.
Significantly associated with young forests (regrown since 1938 and pine dominated) in highly forested landscapes (> 50 % forest) in the Piedmont (Traylor et al. 2023 a).
