Genus Octotemnus Mellié, 1847

Collection information.

USA: Georgia: Clarke Co.: three individuals from three sites. Caught in flight trap from 9 March – 27 July 2020. Includes one morphospecies that was not determined to species-level.

Saproxylic habits.

Larvae and adults live and feed on wood-decomposing, bracket fungi (Thayer and Lawrence 2002); most Octotemnus have a narrow range of related fungal hosts and fall within the Trametes ciid host-group (Lawrence 1973; Orledge and Reynolds 2005).
