Dentalium tetragonum Brocchi, 1814 (original designation).

Diagnosis

Shell medium to large, well curved, solid, polished translucent white when fresh, chalky when dead. Four to five primary ribs, secondary riblets present. Rib section flatrounded, simple­bifurcated. Intercostal spaces straight­convex, smooth­longitudinally sculptured. Apex simple. Section pentagonal at apex; pentagonal­quadrate at aperture.
