Navicordulia Machado & Costa, 1995
A group of 12 species that occurs mostly in eastern South America, with one unidentified species (Fig. 80) collected in eastern Ecuador at moderate elevation. The basic reference is Machado & Costa (1995). The unknown species is probably a stream-dweller.
Navicordulia sp. PA, Mera: 1 ♀, small streams/trails, Los Copales, between Mera and Shell (-1.4919, -78.0725, 1070m), 6 x 2009, leg. & det. KJT, also examined by RWG [KJT].
Note: This specimen remains specifically undetermined and possibly represents an undescribed species; there are no previous records of Navicordulia from northwestern or western South America. The single female was collected in late afternoon in a small clearing; it flew incredibly fast and erratically. However, uncertainty still exists for a number of genera tentatively placed in the family Synthemistidae (Paulson & Schorr (2019), including the two following genera.
