MATERIAL EXAMINED. — Loyalty Islands. 700 m, holotype spm (MNHN 21421). Rurutu. BENTHAUS, stn DW 2004, 22°28’S, 151°19’W, 430-850 m, 1 spm.
DISTRIBUTION. — Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Loyalty Islands, New Hebrides Arc, Wallis and Futuna, Fiji Islands and Tonga (Dijkstra 1995a: 37; 2001: 87; Dijkstra & Maestrati 2008: 95, 96). Now also Austral Islands (new record), alive at 430-850 m depth.
REMARKS
The present specimen is similar to the type material from the Loyalty Islands. The radial sculpture on the left valve is somewhat weaker and the internal ribs are almost lacking. Both features are rather variable in other material examined (MNHN) and this specimen falls within the range of variability. Other characters are identical.
