Brunettia (Neobrunettia) apiculata Quate, 1996

Brunettia apiculata Quate, 1996: 45 –47, figs. 17 f–i.

Comments. The wings of this species have wide costal and anal areas, Sc unsclerotized, the radial fork proximal to the medial fork, and a rupture at the base of R1 (Quate 1996: fig. 17g). The aforementioned characters allow the inclusion of this species in the subgenus Neobrunettia. This species can be recognized by the following characteristics: eyes contiguous, CuA sclerotized, parameres long and triangular with their apical ends after the apices of the gonostyles, aedeagus ending after the posterior margin of the posthypandrial plate. Specimens of this species were not studied, but the original description and the original figures of Quate (1996) are sufficient for their identification.

Distribution. Costa Rica.
