Notes.

This species was included by Vásquez et al. (2014) in their list of Bolivian orchids as a species of Cranichis, however, the original illustration of Ponthieva multiflora shows that the petal, gynostemium and lip are basally fused, a character not recorded for Cranichis, but is present in Ponthieva. Unfortunately, we were not able to find the specimen Vásquez C. et al. 670 to confirm its generic placement in Ponthieva .
