Holotype: not known to exist, not present in MHNG (P. Schwendinger, pers. comm.), not found in 2005; type locality: Veracruz, Veracruz Edo., Mexico .

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: valid species (Kraepelin 1903; Attems 1930; Bücherl 1942 a, 1974).

Distribution: Mexico (San Luis Potosi, Veracruz), Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, & Panama (Humbert & Saussure 1872, Kraepelin 1903, Chamberlin 1925, Attems 1930, Bücherl 1974). Maps: none.

Remarks: Neotype designation is needed to stabilize the name, but from published illustrations and my readings of the descriptive accounts, S. sumichrasti appears to be a junior synonym of S. pomacea C. L. Koch, 1847 .
