Described in Cormocephalus Newport, 1845, this species was transferred to Scolopendra by Gervais (1847), cited under Cormocephalus as a questionable senior synonym of Cupipes impressus (Porat, 1876) by Kraepelin (1903), and cited, again under Cormocephalus, as an insufficiently described species by Attems (1930). Original rank: species. Current rank and status: valid species of Cormocephalus Newport, 1845 (Bücherl 1974).
