Distribution: an irregular area in the southeastern and southcentral United States extending from central Virginia, southern Ohio­Illinois, northwestern Arkansas and northcentral Texas to the south Florida Keys, the Gulf Coast, the Rio Grande, & Jim Wells Co., Texas; the westernmost records are in the Chihuahuan Desert of Presidio Co., Texas (Hoffman & Shelley 1996, Shelley 2002).
