Remarks: “ Scolopendra pomacea michoacana, subsp. nov. ” was proposed for “numerous” specimens collected at 6,000 ft. (1,800 m) elevation by H. Hoogstraal on 23 June 1941 at the same type locality as S. michoacana . Consequently, a most confusing situation is created because the name, michoacana, was proposed at different ranks by the same author for specimens collected by the same person at the same locality only one year apart! Scolopendra pomacea michoacana Chamberlin, 1942, is thus a junior primary homonym of S. michoacana Chamberlin, 1941, which holds priority; it was also omitted by Bücherl (1974).
