Holotype (BMNH dry collection [J. Beccaloni, pers. comm.; examined]); type locality: either South America or India (holotype came from a bottle labeled as both places and the label with the specimen states both) .

Original rank: species. Current rank and status: questionable synonym of S. viridis Say, 1821 (Kraepelin 1903, Attems 1930, Bücherl 1942 a, Shelley 2002).
