Oncideres sladeni Gahan, 1904: 254 .
Oncideres (Lochmaeodes) sladeni; Aurivillius, 1923: 346.
Lochmaeocles sladeni; Dillon & Dillon, 1946: 210.
Remarks. This species was described based on syntypes (number of specimens not indicated) from Central and South Brazil. Nearns et al. (2014) designated a male from “Rio Grande” as lectotype. Gahan (1904) assumed that this place was in South Brazil. However, as the specimen was collected by the Percy Sladen Expedition “at Chapada, Matto Grosso,” there is no reason to believe that the specimen was collected in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Tavakilian & Chevillotte (2023) and Monné (2024b) reported the lectotype as from “ Mato Grosso: Santa Anna da Chapada (Rio Grande).” However, Gahan (1904) wrote: “ Hab. Central and South Brazil: S. Anna da Chapada, Rio Grande.” Gahan was assuming that “Rio Grande” was in South Brazil, and not a place in Santa Ana da Chapada. The only information on the label is “Rio Grande” (see photograph in Nearns et al. (2014)). Currently, it is known from Brazil (Mato Grosso, Goiás, Maranhão, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul), Bolivia (Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, and Tarija), Paraguay, Argentina (Santiago del Estero, Córdoba, Santa Fé, Formosa, Misiones, Chaco, and Corrientes), and Uruguay (Monné 2024b).
Material examined. BRAZIL, Mato Grosso do Sul (new state record): Aquidauana, Bairro Guanandy, 1 specimen (ZUFMS-COL-01401), 20.X.1985, D.C. Liparotti leg. (ZUFMS) .
